Dreamcatchers

Native American Dreamcatcher at Shed Load Of Gifts
Native Americans believe that the night air is filled with good and (unfortunately) bad dreams.  When hung over or near the bed, a dream catcher is said to catch any dreams as they flow by. The good dreams will pass through the dream catcher and slip through the outer holes to slide down the feathers really gently so that the sleeper doesn’t realise they’re dreaming. The bad dreams, being nasty, get tangled in the dream catcher and perish with the first light of dawn.  Many of our dreamcatchers carry an image of a wolf, being both a reflection of the mysterious and untamed wilderness, and tenacity in the face of danger - the wolf is the ideal guardian of your dreams.

Since the beginning of time, the Native Americans have been associating their lives with that of animals in the wildlife kingdom. One of the most misunderstood of these animals is the wolf. For years, the wolf has been seen as an aggressor, when in reality they are very loving and social creatures. This side of the animal was first seen by the tribes of the Americas. The Native American tribes recognized this and they have incorporated the wolf into many of their myths and legends. The wolf will forever be associated with the Native Americans, and learning more about this relationship can help one to better understand the world of Native Americans.
